Who We Are
Ava Finn and Novia Liu are Bellevue area high schoolers with huge hearts for animals. They both grew up with pets, and have always been the type to rush up and ask to pet a new dog in the park! They each waited impatiently on their 13th birthdays because they couldn't wait to begin volunteering at their local shelter.
The girls met through this shared passion for animal welfare. While completing their teen volunteer prep program, they quickly discovered that their interest in politics and government aligned as well. Following this program, Finn and Liu applied for a shelter adoption summer internship, and wound up working directly alongside each other. As part of this internship, they developed an animal welfare project, and decided to take a legislative approach.
Initially, they pursued the bill on a local basis, focusing on the Bellevue area. After discussion with a few politically informed members of the community, they "took the leap" and widened the reach to impact the state’s entirety.
